Our components made of technical ceramics can also be used for deep hole drilling – even at depths of 8 to 10 kilometres. Protective sleeves that consist primarily of the ceramic material silicon nitride can withstand the high forces and vibrations very well. In addition, they are resistant to corrosive chemical attacks (e.g. drilling fluid) and high temperature differences. Another advantage of ceramic protective sleeves is their low weight and excellent mechanical strength. These are just a few of the features that make silicon nitride the preferred material for protective sleeves.
